“Gemma is an exceptional coach and the work we undertook was instrumental in empowering me to work through changes in my role upon return from maternity leave. The support in getting unstuck with a major structural change within my large team was extremely advantageous. Initially I was conflicted about the proposed new role, however, the work we did on alignment of the senior team's mixed viewpoints and ultimately finding committed agreement was just what was needed to get beyond the impasse. Gemma's approach is direct, honest and empathetic; her challenging questions and reframing of my sometimes confused articulations were exactly what was needed to encourage me to look outside the box and ultimately take control of a situation which had initially felt overwhelming. Having the time and space to reflect and work through the change, positioning it so that I could see how it all could be shaped and fit together was beneficial, timely and appreciated. ”

“I worked with Gemma for six months in 2024. As a senior director within the arts sector, I had been fortunate to be able to naturally progress my career, increasing responsibility, accountability and salary over time. However, I was also becoming aware that I was feeling stale in my role and my professional confidence was becoming eroded. I felt anxious about areas of that role I thought others would find very easy – public speaking being one example. I was able to shape the sessions to focus on areas that were particularly challenging at that point in time, but the theme of confidence and ‘next steps’ threaded through the sessions as a common denominator. We broke down some of the confidence challenges and looked in detail at what I needed to do to feel better-prepared in particular situations – perhaps rehearsing ahead of time and doing the research I needed so that I had the emotional and knowledge collateral to rely on ‘in the moment’.

Gemma helped me enormously, particularly around public speaking and holding my own in difficult conversations, but also more generally in being able to better recognise, and better market, the skills I have gained in the workplace over the last thirty years.

Gemma was empathetic to work with – a great listener, but the sessions were challenging in terms of content explored and questions she raised to prompt insight and further discussion.

I finished my period of work with Gemma feeling invigorated, refreshed. My ability to speak in public is transformed, and the natural tendency to talk myself down, while still there, is now counterbalanced by another voice that recognises what I have achieved in my career and the value I have in the workplace. ”

“Working on my leadership values and beliefs was genuinely eye-opening. Initially, I was sceptical about how much it could impact my leadership style, but it’s been transformational. The focus on understanding what drives my approach helped me map out the strategic plan for next year and set updated expectations for our commercial team.

The practical sessions on delivering feedback have also made a difference and our team’s coordination has noticeably improved with better results already. Learning more about myself and how I can best serve in this role has been really useful. I’m feeling more equipped and focused than ever. ”

“Empathic, firm, kind, and generous, Gemma has helped me take a step back and think about my leadership journey, while giving me both space to reflect on my practice as well as introduce me to practical tools to add to my arsenal.  I found Gemma's coaching style both challenging and comforting at the same time. She challenged me where I needed a push, and held space for me to reflect and grow with care where I was less likely to see the forest for the trees.  I found the space with Gemma deeply rewarding, and have been able to incorporate many of the tools we discussed in our sessions into my everyday work, as well as shift some of the patterns that were serving me less well in my professional life.”

“Working with you helped me in a number of ways but I would say it helped most with my mental wellbeing, confidence and to structure my work life in a way that supports my future endeavours. When we first started our sessions I wasn't in a good head space and needed someone/something to help me work through a work experience that I had been struggling to move forward from. After just a couple of sessions with you, I started to feel my confidence grow again and some of the stress I had put on myself was alleviated. You challenged me when needed and helped me see things from a different perspective, you gave me good feedback, advice and supported me throughout all of our sessions. It was a great opportunity for me to talk through various experiences and with your guidance, work my way through them effectively.

The only downside to these sessions is that eventually, they have to end.”

“I have really enjoyed our six sessions together and feel much more equipped to tackle professional challenges.  I was facing imposter syndrome around becoming a senior manager. I now feel more equipped to explore my management style creatively and confident to trust my intuition around what feels right. I found our time really focused. Gemma encouraged me to not share the details of things that she did not need to know and stick to the headlines so that I could get the most out of the sessions. She is great at repeating tangents back to me in synthesised ways, getting to the heart of what is meant and building recommendations around that. I really appreciate the tools she offered me and having shared spaces for tracking tasks. Gemma is generally a very friendly and supportive presence; I felt really comfortable sharing with her and looked forward to our meetings.”
